Before I had a medical situation I went to a different hospital in Chiang Mai, Sriphat Medical Center, as I was considering an annual checkup. This hospital made a bad impression as it appeared unclean and poorly maintained. A few days later, I experienced the pain which resulted in this insurance claim and I went to Ram Hospital, Chiang Mai. They were extremely efficient. I waited for about 15 minutes initially, then was moved very quickly from the evaluation with a doctor, immediately to x-ray (a few steps away) for about 5 minutes, then right back to the doctor for an assessment of the x-ray result. Within a very short time I was wheeled to an extremely clean hospital room with a beautiful view of the city and mountains. The entire process was about 2 hours. Compared to the experience in the US, I would estimate it was a few hours quicker and about 1/5 the cost.

Ram is great - it can sometimes feel like a bit of a rushed experience, especially for routine follow ups and although the English is excellent and they do have access to translators - the Drs aren't always medically fluent. Still they have the most up to date equipment, everyone's very friendly and it's a smooth system where they cut waiting times as much as possible.

I visited Chiangmai Ram Hospital for an eye emergency. The staff were professional, kind, and efficient. I was seen quickly, received clear explanations, and felt well cared for throughout the visit.
