Our 4-year-old daughter got superglue in her right eye. At Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai we were told within a short visit that she needed debridement under general anaesthesia. No alternative was discussed. A 2025 French study of paediatric cyanoacrylate eye exposure found the eyelids separate on their own after an average of 8.5 days, and that surgical intervention gave limited benefit with possible iatrogenic harm — the authors favoured conservative management. We got a second opinion at Sriphat Medical Center (Chiang Mai University). The doctor examined our daughter before payment was mentioned, took time with her, and recommended lubricants and antibiotic drops with a follow-up. The lids opened on their own after five days. Follow-up exam was normal, full recovery. No anaesthesia, no procedure. Competent but transactional. Had we accepted the first recommendation, our daughter would have gone under general anaesthesia for something that resolved by itself.

Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai was extremely helpful during each of my two visits. The staff all speak excellent English, the hospital is extremely clean and modern, and the service is quite fast.
