The service was more than awesome, the medical personal was caring and came with the right treatment for my illness. I'll definitely visit the Hospital Metropolitano in San Jose and recommend it for any medical issue.

I had to visit Hospital Metropolitano in Quito, Ecuador for an emergency. Although there were only a few staff members who spoke fluent English, they were very attentive and made a great effort to communicate using Google Translate. Their explanations were extremely clear and polite, which made me feel very reassured and safe. The hospital facilities were very clean and well-maintained. Security personnel were regularly patrolling the premises, so I had no concerns about safety. Since it’s a very large hospital, it was a bit difficult to figure out which building I needed to go to. So I headed directly to the emergency department, and they responded to my case right away. They accept various credit cards, and I got the impression that they are quite experienced in dealing with travelers like me. Overall, I was very satisfied with the care I received.

Hospital Metropolitano is pretty good overall - the facilities are usually clean, well stocked, and it's well organized. I think the emergency doctor and nurses should have explained more clearly what the prescription was for. Also, there's no drinking water in the hospital unless you get some from a vending machine. I asked a nurse and he was very kind and went to get a bottle of water for us for free but obviously there should be water dispensers for people.
