The hospital took me directly to ER. They moved quickly to do scans to determine what was wrong with me. After, they spoke with me about what was wrong, what needed to be done, and how quickly the procedure would need to be. Additionally, they were quick to check me for pre-op to make sure nothing was wrong that could cause issues during surgery. The pre-op staff were friendly and made me feel comfort. This helped me because I was alone and scared going through surgery in another country. Unlike in the US, they keep you for several days for recovery. Most of the staff was pleasant. Some did not know English, which is understandable. We used google translate, sign language, and phoning a friend to communicate when we had trouble understanding. My only real issues was the room being really hot (90 degrees) and issues when I was trying to get discharged. They did not have the right kind of wheel-chair so I was using my good leg to hold my bad one in the air. Then when I couldn't hold it up anymore my dad helped hold it up. But the staffer (I believe a nursing student) yelled at him for being in the way. She also almost hit my leg 3 times on various things. Nonetheless, this does not speak for the overall experience. The knee surgery (patella tendon rupture repair) was successful and I am healing well. The surgeon did a good job and I happy with the overall experience.
